Situation

Field recordings of audio transcripts of Howth folklore, rock names and coastal histories were assembled, and curated and a scaled hand drawing of a working naval chart was created.

Task

Create various visual systems to display collated coastal folklore and histories.

Action

Synthesis of the various strands of content and Illustrations into the benchmark hand-drawn sea chart. Subsequent iterations added more content and drawings.

Result

The final iteration was converted to a Giclée Print on Fabriano 200 gsm Archival Paper, the artwork 1040 x 1400 mm in size. The Howth Harbour and Howth Peninsula sea charts are visual maps of the local meta histories, rock names, wrecks and sea conditions.
