BEAL LINN Book

The Challenge:

ichael Farren follows in a long line of family fisherman who have fished for lobster off Howth Sound, county Dublin using traditioal techniques. This Photobook, documents a day in the life of Michael on the 1st October 2014.

The Solution:

I spent a day on board the boat with Michael capturing all his routines on film. I curated a series of images to visually explore his working day. I used Jan Tschichold 1902-74 who designed the widely used Sabon typeface. He was typographic designer for Penguin Books in London 1947-49. His work, intended to represent the rationalism of the modern age, was functional, aesthetically satisfying, and designed for reproduction. This was my conceptual springboard for creating the layout of the book.
